The semi-final of the young environmentalist (UNESCO competition) was held in UCC on Friday 12th of April 2019. The chairperson (Iza Dullin), vice chair (Ella Gerrard) and the secretary (Saoirse Keating) of the Greenschools Committee entered the competition with our 'ban the bottle' campaign. The girls spoke enthusiastically in front of a panel of four judges about the success of this project and our sustainability expo which was held on Wednesday the 10th of April. We are now awaiting the final results. Well done girls you did yourselves and the school proud.
It is now school policy for all students to have a re-usable bottle with their name clearly labelled on it. If these bottles are mislaid they will be confiscated. If a student forgets to bring their re-usable bottle to school, there are re-usable plastic cups available in the staffroom for use. Thank you for your co-operation.
Well done to the Greenschools Comittee who have worked diligently to eliminate single use plastics within our school. When students come back to school after February mid-term they will be required to have a resusable water bottle with their name clearly labelled on it. This will help eliminate single use plastics within our school which is also now government policy. Well done girls.
