Congratulations to the Greenschools Committee on being awarded the transport flag. The transport flag is the fourth key theme in Greenschools the Committee have achieved a flag in. These students have worked diligently throughout the year to promote sustainable travel. The committee organised events such as a walk to school on Wednesday and a talk was given to all year groups on road safety. Dolores and Ms.Mullins would like to thank both staff and students for their participation and support throughout the year. As a school community we are very proud of what the Greenschool Committee has achieved. Well done all.

Today N. Íde helped to run a Fairtrade day at break time. As part of Fairtrade Fortnight, the aim of today's event, was to highlight the availability of Fairtrade goods in local supermarkets & shops. There was plenty to choose from with the generous help of Dunnes Stores, Lidl, SuperValu, Marks and Spencer's, Tesco & Martin's Fruit and Veg. Student's had a selection of fruit, chocloate, biscuits, tea & coffee to taste.
As part of Fairtrade fortnight we are running a poster competition. The theme of the poster is on Cocoa. The chocolate that we consume in Ireland is produced in countries by farmers who never receive the income their efforts deserve. This has a negetive effect on farmers long term development. Women in particular suffer from the unfair growing of cocoa & production of chocolate.
